Subject:Who went & made Obama President?!?!? Oh, that's right, WE did!
Time:10:57 am
I almost, kinda, sorta, a wee bit, feel guilty in posting this article from a website called 23/6, that reports on the absolute shock & fear that the same neo-cons & their enabling political pachyderm pals who blithely drove our country into the current ditch in which we find ourselves are enduing as they watch Barack Obama pick the people who will be running the federal government. My mother taught me to never gloat, so I very nearly hate to rub what is supposed to be a victory for the entire country (even the world) into the faces of those who have to be dragged kicking & screaming into the 21st century. They cannot believe that the President-Elect, to use 23/6’s words, “… isn't appointing the same people John McCain would have appointed if he had won.”

What the…???

Amazing how deep & dark runs the GOP stronghold State of Denial, isn’t it???

What nerve of Barack Obama to behave like he has not only won the election, but got the most votes of any US Presidential candidate ever!! I think there’s a pretty good reason for that, though: EX-MAVERICK-TURNED-BUSH-SIDEKICK, JOHN MCCAIN & HIS LIPSTICK-WEARING-PIT-BULL OF A SOUL MATE SARAH “THE MOOSE KILLER” PALIN ACTUALLY LOST THE ELECTION OF ‘08—even if “only” by about 9 ½ million votes!
I guess, since they long ago ran out of anything approaching real ideas & since they obviously have nothing constructive to add to the new national conversation, all the Republicans have left is whining & obstruction, and--if history is any indication—they’ll soon run both of those strategies together with their political fortunes & any real chance they have to be part of a badly-needed solution to the ugly mess they’ve worked so hard to create—even further into the ground before you know it.

While I'm not really one to encourage or offer hope to a political group who largely has no compunction whatever in promoting the idea of befouling our nation's most sacred document with the codification of a permanent second-class citizenship for GLBT people, perhaps all is not necessarily lost for the (formerly) "Grand" Old Party. In the link above to the 23/6 article, there's an awesome pie chart included that provides some pretty good advice to the remnants of Dubya's party, in case they still believe in life after (near-political) death.

No, no, I'm confused. Why would this entry go in this community?

Countdown MSNBC is one of my favorite shows & Keith Olbermann has been skewering the Republicans for a good long time now. I just thought those who enjoyed Keith's work might enjoy a good laugh at the antics of "those crazy Republicans" who are freaking out over Obama's taking over the reigns of government.

That's really the only reason I posted this here.

Wasn't meaning to cause confusion.

I promise.

Oh, I enjoy it, alright, there's no problem there. I just didn't remember seeing any of this (verbatim or linked) on his blog or on his show. :/

23/6 is satire.

Just, um, so it's clear.

I wouldn't take them seriously.

I know they're satire, but what they're basing it on (the Republicans complaining about the people Obama is appointing to certain posts & positions in his new cabinet & other places of government) is REAL. I was just pointing out the stupidity in complaining that the people Obama will have running the government when he takes office won't be like the ones running it now or that John McCain WOULD HAVE appointed, and that, IF THEY WANTED TO HAVE PEOPLE WHO ARE MORE TO THEIR LIKING RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT AGAIN, the should quit whining about it & work on trying to win the next election, so they can have the people they want.

Simple idea. Funny article from 23/6, and even funnier pie chart. Maybe I should have started the post off by saying, "I know that 23/6 is simply a satirical website, but..."

Anyway, I still think it's funny that Republicans are wringing their hands & are already beginning to miss their unchecked power & fearing the worst.

Sorry I didn't make it clearer that my own post was supposed to be satirical, too.

Perhaps I have to work a little harder on making my own brand of satire more evident.

I cut-and-pasted the response because--to me--the question you asked was very much like the one the previous poster had asked. I figured (errantly, obviously) that a similar question could be responded to with the same answer. As that answer may not suffice after all, I offer the response below. Enjoy...

I posted the article because I love the parody 23/6 is making over the Republicans' apparent REAL fear that Obama is filling Washington & the federal government with (OH NO!! DARE I SAY IT???) people who don't toe the neo-con Republican line, and who may very well have (GASP) a few leftist leanings! OH, THE SHOCK OF IT ALL!

My most favorite part is the pie chart to which I referred offering Republicans an alternative to all the whining & complaining they're doing about who's gonna be running the country soon: "Shut the F up and try winning the election next time".

Call it a bad case of schadenfreude on my part, but that just makes me giggle!

Seems to me that—while obviously I do not speak for Keith Olbermann or Countdown--this subject is something Keith would find apropos of his program & which he would find at least a tad amusing. It’s really that simple!

(Oh yeah, in the interest of full disclosure, the response here was ALSO cut-and-pasted from another group where I was explaining that I am aware of the kind of website 23/6 is.) Obviously I'm a big believer in recycling.

It's apropos yes, but perhaps it would do better justice for itself if it had bee linked to in a comment on Daily KOS, and not here. You're trying to be clever, you're trying really well, and I'm sure this site is fantastic (but it's what we already know and have known about the majority of crazy republicans across the nation, not just in government seats since the end of June this year) but I think this is more of a community to discuss the show, not satire websites. That seems more appropriate of your personal journal.
I'd go so far as to say I'd happily read it all if Keith HAS something to say about it on his show and we were going to carry on the discussion of it here, but I think the closest we can get this to be a community-relevant post is to put in a picture of him from the night before last complimenting that sweet tie he was wearing, and post a small blurb and a link to a discussion post that would be on your journal.

idk, That's just my opinion (and I don't mean to seem like an ass about it). I'm not a mod.

Believe it or not, I really do appreciate your advice & your constructive criticism. It's not a bad thing to disagree...especially when you're among friends...and, here, I feel like I am.

As for Keith's sweet tie...he really does have a way with those ties, doesn't he??? There's a green one I especially like that looks kind of like an electric green (not sure if that makes sense or really properly describes it, really), but I always notice when he wears it, and it complements (& compliments) him so well.

I truly thank again for sharing your insight & advice. I will be more selective next time I post something here. It makes sense that something about which Keith actually spoke on Countdown might make a better post subject than just something off the top of my head. :-)

LOVE YOU ICON by the way...may we call you COUNT PB N JELLYFISH??? ;-)

:-)
